drum major instructor & visual choreographer

Now introducing our drum major instructor and visual choreographer, THS alumnus Ashley Kappelman!

Ashley has been teaching at Tennessee High for 8 years now. She served as one of the drum majors for the Mighty Viking Band 2013-2015 and has been conducting and teaching ever since. She also served a season as drum major for the drum corps Carolina Gold in 2019.

She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and marched with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band 2016-2019 where she served as piccolo squad leader for her final 2 years. She played in the Flute Studio the entirety of her time at UTK and served as conductor of the ensemble her final semester. While at UTK, she earned her minor in Applied Music while she got her Bachelor's in Science of Nursing.
